We open up the doors of our Corte degli OstiNati guesthouse, a late eighteenth-century, partially restored manor house. There is still a lot to do, but our dream is to gradually bring the decadent beauty of this villa in the little village of Variano back to life.

What an internet search can never reveal is the discreet charm of the places in this region. It is the rediscovery of a slow tourism, on a human scale, that enables you to appreciate the authenticity of an area and its community. It is the silence interrupted only by the symphony of the mountain streams in the enchanting Val D’Arzino, a destination for e-bikes, astrotrekking and canyoning, and an alternative to the celebrated beaches of Lignano and Grado. It is an exciting journey along the routes of the Great War, from Ragogna to Pinzano, among pre-war fortifications, emplacements and relics from the Battle of the Tagliamento. It is the majestic peace of the Stella river nature reserve, where amongst the reed beds you can admire mute swans, purple herons and the western marsh harrier. It is also festive toasting with the region´s wines in the many frasche and osmize scattered here and there; it is sampling a slice of the inimitable San Daniele cured ham; it is the festive music of a village festival, where you can sample frico and frittolin.

The rooms have been beautifully renovated and furnished with materials and pieces of the highest quality. They are wonderful hosts — kind, attentive, and always available — and they convey their love for what they do through the care and dedication they devote to every detail. The same attention is reserved for their guests, who are served excellent breakfasts on fine linen tablecloths.
I stayed at this property for five days, and it proved to be comfortable in every respect. The setting is tastefully curated down to the smallest detail, and the owners are welcoming hosts, always attentive and available.
